Anyone know a sure fire way to get water out of your ears?

My son went swimming with the scouts last night and when he came home he still had water in his ears.  This morning he looked hammered.  He said he couldn't sleep until 3 a.m. because of the pressure of the water.  Finally, one ear drained.  When he went to school this morning, he was having a hard time hearing out of the water filled ear and his equilibrium was feeling off.  I think he's coming home after his first or second class where he has papers due.

He's my child that always had ear infections as a child and sinus infections as a teen...this week he's been fighting the sinus a bit and I think this water situation is probably related to drainage issues there.  But next week is finals week!  It always seems like when he gets a horrible sinus infection it's during finals week. 

Any great tips here to help?
